A Silent Lament Collection

A little insight into these paintings:

A moving piece of music called “Lament for Mullroy” inspired me to paint these works. Remembrance finds its way into much of my painting… I’ve wondered often how we keep with us the people we’ve lost. Tried to imagine what the truest way might be to show our love for them, our thanks for their lives. The organised ceremonies have their place, but it’s the private acts of remembrance that carry most meaning for me. I can’t shake the image of the silent lament… An inner, private honouring, performed by a silent figure, alone with the light on the quiet water once shared… A figure standing, head bowed in gratitude; the oars of the rowing boat at rest.
